Hey guys!
Here's a quick little pattern you can use to make your own mini onigiri plushie! it works up in literally 10 minutes and is the perfect size for keychains <3
Materials:
- white yarn (I used Cygnet Jelly baby)
- A hook that matches the y arn you're using (I used a 5mm hook)
- A stitch marker (a safety/bobby pin will work too)
- Scissors
- A darning needle
- Polyester stuffing
- 6mm-10mm safety eyes, depending on the size of the yarn you're using
- black felt (as the seaweed)
(FELT SHOULD BE USED TO REPLACE SAFETY EYES IF THE PLUSHIE IS
INTENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 OR PETS)
Abbreviations:
Sc- Single Crochet
Sc Inc- Single crochet increase (this is 2 single crochet in one st)
Ch- Chain
Dec-Single Crochet Decrease (this is crocheting two st together)
SI st-Slip stitch
St- Stitch
CI-Cluster (this is placing 3 sc into one st)
Rice ball:
R1: ch 10
R2: (2nd ch from hook) 8sc, 3sc cl, 6sc, 3sc cl (20)
R3-6: (4 rounds) 20sc
R7: (2sc,1dec) × 5 (15)
R8:15SC
(Secure eyes in rnd 7, 3 st apart. Also begin to stuff)
R9: (1sc, 1dec) ×5 (10)
R10:10sC
R11: (dec) × 5 (5)
Fasten off and cut yarn, sewing and tucking the tail back into the body
seaweed (use black felt)
- cut out a piece of black/dark green felt that can fit your onigiri. This should come to the top of round 4 (on both sides) and measure around the width of 4 st
- it should look like a large rectangle
secure that on in whichever method youd like :)
(if given to children please avoid using glue)
